There are times in
our busy lives that we have the thought that it would be
nice to send this person or that person a bouquet or vase of
flowers for some special reason. Too often we never to
get to act on the thought because we are busy.
To go out of our way to go to a flower shop just takes
too much time, or has too much traffic, or whatever.
That is no longer a valid excuse. Now you can take a
few minutes at home, at your desk, or on your laptop en route
to select the perfect floral gift and send it on its way.
Besides the myriads of beautiful things that flowers are
known for, they are also have a therapeutic effect on
us.
Flowers just make you feel good, and you like having
flowers
around as much as possible. Flowers have the power to
lift
your spirits. A thing of beauty is joy forever and
flowers
surpass everything in beauty. A room full of aromatic
flowers makes you feel good and your stress seems to
dissolve in the wonderful scent of those flowers. Giving
and
receiving flowers has a charm beyond compare. You just
feel
you're on cloud nine with flowers around you.
You probably never told anyone about the way getting
flowers makes you feel, though, because you were afraid
people would laugh at you or think you were, um, just a
little bit weird when it comes to flowers. Well, you'll
be
happy to learn that researchers at Rutgers University,
however, would agree with about the way flowers effect
your mood. They did a ten-month study on the link
between
receiving flowers and moods. And what they found could
be
the foundation of a whole new mood therapy: flowers
therapy.
Because the researchers found that receiving flowers has
an instant effect on a person's mood. People getting
flowers immediately smiled and got excited--and this
reaction was true for all age groups, young and old.
They
also found that people were less tense and depressed
after
getting flowers. Flowers, they found, just made people
feel
more optimistic and positive.
So now science backs up what you've always known about
flowers: Flowers make us happy. Having them around
makes
us feel good and lowers our stress. Having flowers
around
also makes us more productive because our attitude is
brighter. So the next time you receive flowers, you want
to make sure you take good care of them, so they'll last
a long, long, long time.
